Arun Singh is a former union minister of state for defence in the Government of India. He was minister in the government headed by Rajiv Gandhi. Born into the princely family of Kapurthala, Singh attended Doon School. He later went to Cambridge University with Rajiv Gandhi.〔("The Return of Arun Singh" ). Rediff on the Net. According to Hindustan Times quoting an article published in Caravan's May 2014 Issue, Rajiv Gandhi, along with Arun Singh and Arun Nehru, was responsible for taking decision on " go ahead" for Operation Blue Star despite Indira Gandhi's consistence reluctance against Army entering the sacred shrine .
